The Committee attracted significant interest and response from residents visiting the vaccination center by distributing promotional booklets and broadcasting resident interview videos through a mobile promotional vehicle. They plan to continue these promotional activities on-site until the vaccination process is completed.
On that day, Park Moon-jae, the Co-Chairman of the Committee, stated, “Mayor Lee Yong-seop of Gwangju disrespected the residents of Jeollanam-do with his inhumane remark during a press briefing on the 5th, claiming that areas with populations under 100,000 would not suffer from fighter jet noise.” He demanded an apology from the mayor, saying, “Mayor Lee, who once called for coexistence between Gwangju and Jeollanam-do, is now caught in self-contradiction and rationalization, showing the unilateral push-through behavior reminiscent of past military regimes who would do anything for their objectives.”
He also emphasized, “A unilateral military airport relocation method that causes conflicts and disputes between regions cannot gain the sympathy of local residents. We must shift to a competitive selection method that allows regions wishing to host the combat airfield to attract it through a change in perspective.”
