Ministry of Environment-affiliated and Subordinate Organizations such as Sugong and Environmental Corporation to Actively Adopt Innovative Renewable Energy Products
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Joo Sang-don] Korea Water Resources Corporation, the National Institute of Environmental Research, the National Institute of Ecology, Korea Environment Corporation, and Korea National Park Service, all affiliated with the Ministry of Environment, have decided to actively introduce innovative renewable energy products such as building-integrated photovoltaics.
On the 19th, the Ministry of Environment announced that the heads of the five affiliated organizations attended a meeting at the Korea Water Resources Corporation Han River Basin Headquarters in Gwacheon to review the progress of carbon neutrality promotion in public buildings and made this decision.
These organizations plan to investigate whether building-integrated photovoltaics can be installed on buildings owned by each institution and fixed solar panels on idle land, and gradually expand their use to actively introduce innovative renewable energy products.
Prior to this meeting, Korea Water Resources Corporation, Korea Institute of Energy Technology, and Korea Building Photovoltaic Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance the energy self-sufficiency rate of buildings. Through this MOU, Korea Water Resources Corporation will actively introduce photovoltaics such as building-integrated photovoltaics, a major energy self-sufficiency method for urban buildings, and provide demonstration facilities (test beds) to the Korea Institute of Energy Technology for technology development and verification. The Korea Institute of Energy Technology plans to utilize the demonstration data received from Korea Water Resources Corporation to verify efficiency and promote the dissemination of results through research and development. The Building Photovoltaic Association will be responsible for promoting the spread of photovoltaics to improve the energy self-sufficiency rate of buildings such as building-integrated photovoltaics and discovering exemplary projects.
