A Drunken Man in His 50s Arrested for Strangling and Assaulting a Female Taxi Driver
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] A man in his 50s who assaulted a taxi driver inside a moving taxi was apprehended by the police.
According to the police on the 18th, the Nowon Police Station in Seoul arrested and is investigating a man in his 50s, Mr. A, on charges of strangling and assaulting a female taxi driver in her 60s inside a moving taxi.
Mr. A is accused of assault (aggravated assault on a driver under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes) for strangling the driver's neck with the driver's seatbelt and pulling her hair while traveling by taxi from Jungnang-gu to Suraksan Station in Nowon-gu, Seoul, at around 7:28 PM the previous day.
Mr. A was caught in the act and arrested by the police who responded to the driver's report. He was reportedly intoxicated and did not properly cooperate with the police investigation, including refusing to provide personal information.
