Yanggu-gun to Launch 'Lowland Flood Prevention Project' Around Seocheon Next Month
[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Yanggu-gun, Gangwon-do, will start a drainage improvement project from May to prevent frequent flooding in the lowlands around Seocheon.
According to the county on the 18th, with a total project cost of 5.25 billion KRW fully secured from national funds, the project plans to complete by December 2024 the expansion and maintenance of irrigation and drainage channels, and the installation of drainage gates in areas including Andaeri, Songcheong-ri, Hwanggang-ri, Guam-ri, and Songu-ri in Yanggu-eup.

The project area, with a watershed area of 272.9 hectares, is adjacent to Seocheon, a local class 2 river, and is a well-irrigated farmland where facility cultivation is increasing. However, due to poor drainage facilities, frequent flooding occurs, making the installation of drainage gates urgent.
