The memorial event was held simply, adhering to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, with attendees including County Governor Lee Dong-jin and Jindo County Council Chairperson Park Geum-rye.
This memorial ceremony prayed for consolation, healing, and recovery from the grief of losing family members through flower offerings in remembrance of the victims of the April 16 Sewol Ferry disaster.

Governor Lee Dong-jin stated, “Since the Sewol Ferry disaster, safety has become the top priority in all areas connected to the economy, culture, and people's livelihoods,” adding, “I pray for the repose of the victims’ souls, offer deep condolences to the bereaved families, and hope that such a tragedy causing the loss of precious lives like the Sewol Ferry disaster will never happen again.”
