Opening of Songpa Smart Library Branch 3 at Macheon Station
Over 500 Books Available Starting Operations on the 15th
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) has installed the third 'Songpa Smart Library' at Macheon Station to allow residents to safely and comfortably enjoy reading during the COVID-19 situation, and began full operation from the 15th.
The Smart Library is an unmanned book lending and return machine operating 365 days a year for residents who have difficulty using traditional libraries. It holds about 500 books including new releases and bestsellers in various fields such as humanities, history, and novels.
It operates from 5 a.m. to midnight and can be used by members of the Songpa-gu Integrated Library. Each person can borrow up to two books for 14 days, and returns must be made at the same Smart Library where the books were borrowed.
The Macheon Station Smart Library was installed in anticipation of increased demand due to the influx of households from the 'Geoyeomacheon Area Comprehensive Development Plan.'
It is also expected to alleviate residents' inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of the Sonamu Eondeok 3rd Library, which is currently under construction nearby.
Starting with Jamsilnaru Station in July 2019 and Bangi Station in August 2020, the district has opened Smart Libraries. So far, 4,631 users have borrowed 17,721 books, showing a rapid increase in demand.
