Gwangju Police Make All-Out Efforts to Block COVID Spread from Entertainment Venues
Joint Inspection Conducted in Collaboration with Gwangju City
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 15th that it will conduct a joint inspection of entertainment facilities during the busy evening hours on the 16th to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
This joint inspection in Gwangju Metropolitan City was initiated amid growing public concerns over the recent cluster infections originating from entertainment establishments in Seoul, Busan, and the realization of the fourth wave of COVID-19.
In addition to joint inspection teams from the police stations and local governments, a large number of police riot squads will be deployed to focus intensively on public safety and quarantine enforcement, including crackdowns on illegal operations at entertainment facilities where cluster infections are a concern.
The inspection targets are major entertainment facilities where people are likely to gather in crowded places, such as large clubs, entertainment bars, colatecs, emotional bars, danran bars, and holdem pubs.
In the Gwangju area, although the operating hour restrictions for entertainment facilities have been lifted under social distancing level 1.5, essential quarantine rules remain in place, including a ban on private gatherings of five or more people, mandatory mask-wearing for workers and users, maintaining a distance of 2 meters (at least 1 meter) between users, and mandatory use of electronic entry logs.
The agency plans to check compliance with COVID-19 infection prevention measures and conduct focused crackdowns on illegal entertainment facilities, reporting violations to local governments.
In particular, until the 18th, local governments are pushing for intensive crackdowns on illegal operations at entertainment facilities to prevent COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the police have uncovered 11 cases of violations related to unauthorized operations, including breaches of the Food Sanitation Act and the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act, as of this day.
