[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] Park Beom-gye, Minister of Justice, urged newly appointed chief prosecutors to "make efforts to improve organizational culture."
On the 14th, Minister Park spoke to the 34th and 35th classes of newly appointed chief prosecutors undergoing leadership training at the Legal Research and Training Institute in Jincheon, Chungbuk, saying, "As mid-level prosecutors, please guide your juniors well and strive to establish the reformed criminal justice system."
In particular, Minister Park emphasized, "It is important to embrace diversity while practicing democratic communication and securing universally valid objectivity and neutrality." He added, "We must do our best to protect human rights and ensure judicial oversight in criminal procedures, and establish detailed standards so that criminal and trial work, which has not received much attention, can be fairly evaluated."
He also stressed that the prosecution's capabilities in anti-corruption and crime response must not decline due to the adjustment of investigative authority between the prosecution and the police, and urged for organic cooperation with the police.
