View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Seoul Auction announced on the 14th that it will hold its 160th auction on the 27th.
The auction will feature 238 works with an estimated total value of 12 billion KRW. The lots include modern and contemporary Korean art, Korean traditional antiques, and overseas works.
Various works by Lee Ufan, a master of Korean contemporary art, will be exhibited. The representative works 'From Point' and 'From Line', as well as pieces from the 'Winds' series that began in the early 1980s, the 'Dialogue' and 'Correspondance' series, and ceramic paintings and prints will all be included.
Works by Kim Changyeol, a modern Korean master who experimented with various transformations using the motif of 'Water Drops', and Park Seobo, who continued his painterly experiments with the 'Myobeop' series, will also be featured.
The ceramics section includes celadon, buncheong ware, and white porcelain spanning from the Goryeo to Joseon dynasties. The auction also offers a chance to experience traditional Korean beauty with Oriental paintings by late Joseon painters such as Ho Seonggwan Choi Buk’s 'Gosagwanpokdo' and Pyoam Kang Sehwang’s 'Maehwado'.
Additionally, the auction will showcase works by famous international artists. These include Fernando Botero, a Colombian painter and sculptor; Ayako Rokkaku, a Japanese artist gaining popularity in the art market; and David Hockney, who holds the title of the world’s most expensive painter.
The preview exhibition will be held from today until the 27th at the Seoul Auction Gangnam Center. It is open to the public free of charge from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
