30s Man Arrested for Random Assault on Woman at Adjacent Table in Daegu Downtown Cafe
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] A man in his 30s who committed a 'random assault' on a woman at a downtown Daegu cafe has been sent to the prosecution.
According to the Daegu Jungbu Police Station on the 13th, a man in his 30s, Mr. A, assaulted a woman sitting next to him at a cafe near Banwoldang Intersection in Jung-gu, Daegu, at around 2:15 p.m. on the 5th, then fled but was caught four days later.
The suspect reportedly assaulted the victim suddenly with verbal abuse after being confronted for moving her bag without permission while trying to sit next to her. The assault lasted less than two minutes.
The police analyzed CCTV footage inside and outside the cafe and made an emergency arrest of Mr. A at a traditional market in Daegu on the 9th.

A police official stated, "The suspect is exercising his right to remain silent regarding the motive for the crime," and added, "Due to the risk of flight, he was sent to the prosecution in custody."
