[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk announced on the 13th that it is recruiting stores to participate in the ‘Smart Supermarket Development Project’ to strengthen the competitiveness of neighborhood supermarkets and actively respond to changes in non-face-to-face and digital distribution environments.
A smart supermarket is a hybrid store that introduces smart technologies such as unmanned access authentication devices, unmanned checkout counters, and security equipment to neighborhood supermarkets, allowing for manned operation during the day and unmanned operation at night.
The eligible stores are neighborhood supermarkets that meet the following criteria: ▲small business standards (annual sales of 5 billion KRW or less, fewer than 5 regular employees) ▲store area excluding common areas less than 165㎡ ▲classified under the Korean Standard Industrial Classification as ‘Other comprehensive retail sale of food and beverages’ (excluding directly operated chain stores and franchise chain businesses).
Stores wishing to participate can apply by visiting the Imsil-gun Economic and Transportation Department by the 16th, or by email or mail.
The county will select two final stores next month after document and on-site evaluations, and the selected stores will receive partial support for the project costs including smart supermarket establishment, consulting, education, and marketing.
