Prosecution Appeals 34-Year Sentence in First Trial of 'Gatgat' Moon Hyung-wook, Saying "Sentence Is Too Light"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The prosecution has appealed the first trial verdict sentencing 'GodGod' Moon Hyung-wook (24) to 34 years in prison for operating the Telegram chat room 'n번방' and producing and distributing sexual exploitation materials.
The Andong Branch of Daegu District Prosecutors' Office announced on the 12th, "We decided to appeal because we judged the sentence to be too light considering the severity of the crime."
Moon Hyung-wook's side also submitted an appeal to the Andong Branch of Daegu District Court on the 9th.
The appeal trial is expected to be held at the Daegu High Court.
The first trial court sentenced Moon Hyung-wook, who was indicted in custody for violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles from Sexual Abuse, to 34 years in prison on the 8th.
