"Even with Rising Prices, Hanwoo at 'Half Price' - Lotte Mart's 'Flex with Hanwoo' Event"
Up to 50% Off All Hanwoo Beef Products for One Week Starting the 15th
Including Sirloin, Tenderloin, Striploin, Special Cuts, and All Frozen Hanwoo Beef Products Up to 50% Off
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Lotte Mart announced on the 12th that it will hold the 'Hanwoo Flex' event, offering up to 50% discount on all Hanwoo beef products at all stores from the 15th to the 21st.
As the COVID-19 pandemic has prolonged, dining out has become difficult, leading to increased demand for purchasing various ingredients at large marts to grill meat at home. Last year, Lotte Mart's livestock sales grew by nearly 10% compared to the previous year, with Hanwoo beef sales increasing by nearly 15%.
Due to recent price increases at production sites, Hanwoo beef is currently at its highest price level this year. According to the Livestock Quality Assessment Service, as of April 8, the wholesale price of 1st grade Hanwoo sirloin was 66,050 KRW per kg, about 5,000 KRW higher than 61,673 KRW a year ago.
Lotte Mart emphasized, "Since we purchase Hanwoo directly from production sites and sell it, we can offer high-quality Hanwoo at prices lower than market rates." The event volume is planned for 700 heads of Hanwoo, aiming to allow more customers to enjoy Hanwoo without burden. During previous events such as '50% off U.S. beef' and 'Number Nine Hanwoo,' sales increased more than fourfold compared to regular weekend events.
Lotte Mart added that they have prepared a variety of cuts including sirloin, tenderloin, striploin, and special parts to broaden customer choices for this event.
As a representative product, '1st grade Hanwoo sirloin (100g, refrigerated)' can be purchased at 5,950 KRW, a 50% discount from the regular price, when paid with event cards from April 16 to 18 for three days. For L.Point members, 'Hanwoo soup cuts and bulgogi (100g, refrigerated)' are offered at a 40% discount for 3,600 KRW each, and '1st grade Hanwoo grilling cuts (tenderloin, striploin, special parts)' are sold at a 30% discount.
Yoon Byung-soo, Head of Fresh Food Division 2 at Lotte Mart, said, "Considering the high customer response to U.S. beef and Number Nine Hanwoo during the anniversary event period, we prepared this Hanwoo event. We will continue to plan various events so that customers can enjoy a variety of livestock products without burden."
