Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok Encourages Residents to Get AZ Vaccine Shots
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, received the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine on the morning of the 9th at the Muan County Senior Specialized Nursing Home.
This was in response to the government's encouragement for local government heads to participate in vaccinations. He personally participated to alleviate residents' concerns about the AstraZeneca vaccine and to promote vaccination.
Governor Kim was vaccinated along with 23 residents of the elderly care facility.
Governor Kim said, "It was the same as receiving a flu vaccine as usual, and there were no adverse reactions," and urged, "According to the government's vaccination policy, I ask the residents to feel at ease and actively participate in the vaccination."
As of this day, the number of vaccinated people in Jeonnam is 49,194 (79.0%) out of 62,293 first-quarter targets, and 11,988 (5.46%) out of 221,183 second-quarter targets, making the overall vaccination rate 21.6%.
The vaccination rate compared to the entire Jeonnam population of 1.85 million is 3.3%, and the plan is to complete vaccinations for 1.59 million people by the end of September.

The government decided to resume the previously suspended AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine vaccinations from the 12th, after the suspension starting on the 7th. They announced that if no rare thrombosis-related side effects occur after the first dose, the second dose will also be recommended to be AstraZeneca regardless of age. However, vaccination is not recommended for those under 30 years old.
