Dongdaemun-gu assembles boxes worth 30,000 won for underprivileged groups... 15 years of consistent sharing practice
On the morning of the 9th, the congregation of Dongyang Church delivered 3,225 Easter Joy Sharing Boxes they personally collected to Dongdaemun-gu, and took a commemorative photo with Yoo Deok-yeol, the mayor of Dongdaemun-gu (fifth from the right).
View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongan Church (Senior Pastor Hyungjun Kim) in Imun-dong, Dongdaemun-gu, donated 3,225 Joy Sharing Boxes (worth 30,000 KRW each, totaling about 96 million KRW) to Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Deokyeol Yoo) at 10 a.m. on the 9th.
Due to COVID-19, the Joy Sharing Boxes were distributed to Dongdaemun-gu in the morning without a delivery ceremony.
Starting from the 12th, Dongdaemun-gu employees who have formed partnerships with underprivileged groups will deliver the Joy Sharing Boxes to the partnered recipients.
Dongan Church has been holding the Easter Joy Sharing event for 15 years to support the underprivileged in the local community. About 8,000 members of Dongan Church prepare the Joy Sharing Boxes with daily necessities they purchase themselves over about a month until Easter on April 4th, practicing sharing.
The Joy Sharing Boxes consist of items worth about 30,000 KRW, including canned goods, curry, and sauces.
In addition to the Easter Joy Sharing event, Dongan Church strives to provide comfort and hope to neighbors facing hardships in their daily lives through various support activities for the local community.
