Jindo-gun Secures 11 Billion KRW in National Funding for Gunnae District Drainage Improvement Project
Establishing a Safe Farming Environment to Prevent Flood Damage... 2023 Project Completion
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Jindo County has been selected for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' drainage improvement project, securing 11 billion KRW in national funding.
According to Jindo County on the 9th, the drainage improvement project, which is 100% funded by the national government, aims to prevent disasters by installing drainage pumps and drainage channels in low-lying farmland areas of 50 hectares or more that are prone to frequent flooding.
The Jinnae District in Jindo County, selected this time, will invest a total project cost of 11 billion KRW annually in 173 hectares of reclaimed land and hinterland farmland in Jinnae.
The detailed design will begin in the second half of this year, with construction starting next year, and the project is planned to be completed by 2023.
In particular, the Gogeun District (292 hectares, 15 billion KRW) and Uisin District (137 hectares, 8.4 billion KRW), which were selected for the drainage improvement project last year, will invest a total of 23.4 billion KRW, and the Korea Rural Community Corporation is conducting detailed designs aiming to start construction in the second half of this year.

A representative from the Construction and Transportation Department of Jindo County said, “We maintained close cooperation with Jeollanam-do and others to resolve the flooding damage to farmland, which was a long-standing issue for residents,” adding, “From the early stages of the project, we actively collected residents' opinions to alleviate the inconvenience caused by flooding damage to farmland.”
