[Golf Topic] LPGA Tour "May China Tournament Canceled"
[Asia Economy Reporter Now Rae] ○…The U.S. Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour has canceled its May tournament in China.
On the 8th (Korean time), it announced, "The Blue Bay LPGA, which was scheduled to be held in Hainan Island, China in May, has been canceled," adding, "Considering health reasons due to COVID-19 and local travel restrictions, the event will not be held this year." It further stated, "We appreciate the efforts of all involved and hope the tournament can be held normally next year." The event was planned to take place over four days starting May 13 at the Jian Lake Blue Bay Golf Course in Hainan Island, China.

The tournament was also not held in 2019, and was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19. This spring, the LPGA Tour's Asian events have been reduced to two: the HSBC Women's World Championship starting on the 29th in Singapore, and the Honda LPGA Thailand held from May 6. From October, the 'Asian Swing' will resume sequentially in China, Korea, Taiwan, and Japan. Last year, all autumn Asian tournaments were canceled due to COVID-19.
