Assemblyman Shin Jeong-hoon Secures 24.2 Billion KRW in National Funding for Naju-Hwasun Drainage Improvement Project
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Congressman Shin Jeong-hoon (Democratic Party, Jeonnam Naju·Hwasun) announced on the 7th that three districts in Naju City and Hwasun County have been selected as target sites for the ‘2021 Drainage Improvement Project’ led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, with a total of 24.2 billion KRW in national funds being invested.
The Wolsong district in Donggang-myeon, Naju City, selected as a basic survey district, will receive a project budget of 12.2 billion KRW, and the Deokgok district in Dogok-myeon, Hwasun County, will receive 7 billion KRW. This year, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs will establish a basic plan and proceed with follow-up projects.
The Naegi district in Sanpo-myeon, Naju City, selected as a newly initiated district, will complete detailed designs this year after conducting a status survey and gathering opinions from local residents. With a project budget of 5 billion KRW, construction is planned to be completed from next year through 2025.
The drainage improvement project is fully funded by the national government and involves installing retention ponds and drainage channels in farmland that is frequently flooded to prevent crop damage and soil erosion during heavy rains.
Congressman Shin Jeong-hoon visited sites such as the Wolsong district in Donggang, which suffered flood damage last year, promised to prepare countermeasures, and proposed the drainage improvement project to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
