The 16,000 TEU-class container ship No. 1, 'HMM Nuriho,' is preparing to depart for Europe from the Port of Singapore.
View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] HMM announced on the 7th that its 16,000 TEU-class ultra-large container ship No. 1, 'HMM Nuriho,' has set sail for Europe fully loaded with containers.
'HMM Nuriho' departed Busan Port for the first time on the 22nd of last month, stopping at Shanghai, Ningbo, and Yantian in China before arriving in Singapore on the 5th. It recorded 13,438 TEU, exceeding the typical maximum loading capacity (13,300 TEU) of a 16,000 TEU-class container ship.
To support the timely transportation of domestic cargo, HMM deployed two vessels, 'HMM Nuriho' and 'HMM Gaonho,' earlier last month. This decision was made to expedite the scheduled sequential acquisition of eight 16,000 TEU-class container ships, constructed as part of the government's 'Five-Year Plan for Shipping Reconstruction,' starting from mid-this month.
These vessels are deployed on the North Europe route FE4 (Far East Europe 4) and are jointly operated with members of The Alliance. The port calls follow the sequence: Busan - Shanghai - Ningbo - Yantian - Singapore - Rotterdam - Hamburg - Antwerp - Southampton - Yantian - Hong Kong - Shanghai - Busan. The ships pass through the recently restored Suez Canal.
Meanwhile, since April last year, HMM's twelve 24,000 TEU-class world’s largest container ships deployed on the Asia-Europe route have set a great record of 32 consecutive fully loaded voyages. The 33rd voyage recorded 99% loading, and from the 34th to the recent 37th voyage, they have continued the full load streak.
