[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] The Korea Institute of Finance held a general meeting of employees on the 6th and announced the appointment of Seo Taejong, former Senior Deputy Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service, as the new president. Seo Taejong's term will begin on the 11th and last for three years. The inauguration ceremony will be held on the 12th.
New President Seo Taejong graduated from Gwangju Daedong High School and majored in Economics at Chonnam National University. He later earned a master's degree from the Graduate School of Public Administration at Seoul National University.

He began his public service career at the Ministry of Finance after passing the 29th Administrative Examination. He served as Director of the Supervisory Policy Division at the Financial Supervisory Commission, Director of the Capital Market Bureau at the Financial Services Commission, and Standing Commissioner of the Securities and Futures Commission. From 2014 to 2017, he served as Senior Deputy Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service, and from 2019 until recently, he was Chairman of the Financial Creditors Adjustment Committee.
