Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education Implements COVID-19 Vaccination Program
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education plans to begin full-scale COVID-19 vaccinations for students and staff in the Jeonnam region starting in April.
According to the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education on the 6th, the first round of vaccinations will be administered from the 8th to the 28th to the initial target groups, including health (responsible) teachers and special education workers.
The second round of vaccinations for first and second grade elementary school teachers, childcare workers, kindergarten teachers, and support staff is also expected to be completed by June. Additionally, vaccination plans for third-year high school students and third-year high school teachers are being prepared.
For staff members, paid leave will be granted on the day of vaccination, and sick leave will be provided if adverse reactions occur the following day, with flexible application of work regulations encouraged.
The Office of Education anticipates that if the COVID-19 vaccinations proceed as scheduled, stable operation of the educational curriculum will be possible, and it expects that this will help close academic achievement gaps and realize true learning welfare.

Jo Young-rae, Director of the Physical Education and Health Division, said, “Last year, all educational programs had to be operated and adjusted focusing on quarantine,” adding, “This year, we expect a shift from quarantine-centered measures to the restoration of daily school life, with education centered on students and staff.”
