Lotte Outlet Gwangju Suwan to Open 'Dongmyeong Bakery' on the 8th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Lotte Outlet Gwangju Suwan Branch (Manager Lee Chung-yeol) has taken steps to attract local bakeries to strengthen its win-win cooperation with the community.
Lotte Outlet Gwangju Suwan Branch announced on the 6th that ‘Dongmyeong Bakery’ will open on the 8th.
Dongmyeong Bakery started in 2018 in Dongmyeong-dong, Gwangju Metropolitan City, specializing in baking bread under the name ‘Dongmyeong Bread.’ It now operates ‘Dongmyeong Bakery’ in Haenam, Jeonnam, and ‘Mareuk-dong Bakery’ in Mareuk-dong, Gwangju.
Despite competition with large franchise companies, Dongmyeong Bakery has gained popularity by sticking to fresh ingredients and the belief of not making bread carelessly, producing freshly baked bread every hour on the hour from 11 a.m.
In particular, the tangjong method of Dongmyeong Bread, which uses dough kneaded with water boiled at 100℃ and cold-fermented for 24 hours, is famous for its moist and chewy texture even after 3 to 4 days, making it so popular that customers order it via delivery after tasting it once.
To promote win-win cooperation with the local community, Lotte Outlet Gwangju Suwan Branch gave up attracting large bakery chains from Seoul and the metropolitan area and instead visited and verified Dongmyeong Bread in Dongmyeong-dong and the Haenam and Mareuk-dong stores several times through SNS before selecting them as tenants.
Suwan Lotte Outlet has arranged for customers to enjoy all the signature menus of Dongmyeong Bread in Dongmyeong-dong, Dongmyeong Bakery in Haenam, and Mareuk-dong Bakery in one place.
Representative items include ▲Tangjong Bread, the signature bread of Dongmyeong Bread, priced at 3,900 KRW ▲About 10 kinds of topping breads such as chestnut, blueberry, addictive corn, and basil tomato bread, each priced at 2,900 KRW ▲Bite-sized sweet potato bread from Ttangkkeut, Haenam, priced at 1,300 KRW ▲Ang Butter Scone at 3,900 KRW ▲Egg Sandwich at 5,500 KRW.
To commemorate the opening, from the opening day until the 11th, freshly baked Tangjong Bread will be sold at 1,000 KRW per piece (limited to one per customer) with a daily limit of 200 pieces.
Son Young-bae, CEO of Dongmyeong Bakery, said, “Since we were given the opportunity to enter a large distribution company, we will bake bread more carefully with fresh ingredients.”
