LH Launches Pilot Project to Revamp Elderly Care Delivery System
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 6th that it has launched the 'Pilot Project for the Reform of the Elderly Care Delivery System' starting from the 1st of this month.
This project provides various services such as healthcare, nursing, housing support, and daily living assistance targeting low-income elderly individuals. The project areas are Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province and Chuncheon City in Gangwon Province, and it collaborates with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of Health and Welfare, National Health Insurance Service, and local governments. Integrated care centers will be established in each zone within the designated areas, where LH housing support specialists and local government health and welfare officials will be stationed to carry out the work.
LH will support technology and manpower to promote the 'Elderly Customized Housing Renovation Project' and supply 'Customized Rental Housing.' Through this, local elderly residents can enjoy a safe and comfortable living environment without having to leave their existing communities. The elderly customized housing renovation project will be conducted for a total of 210 households. Using local government budgets, repair allowances of 4 million KRW per household will be invested. In addition to simple repairs and maintenance, anti-slip devices and safety handrails to prevent falls will be installed, and thresholds that hinder walking will be removed.
Low-income elderly individuals eligible for care will be provided with customized rental housing for seniors, and if housing search assistance is needed, counseling and information support will also be offered. Additionally, LH will utilize idle spaces within rental housing complexes to create shared community spaces and provide residential services such as communal living assistants to establish a pleasant living environment for residents.
