Shinhyup Launches First Overseas Check Card: "Spend 300,000 Won and Receive a Gold Bar"
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] The National Credit Union Federation of Korea announced on the 6th that it has launched its first overseas check card.
The check cards come in four types for individuals and two types for corporations, designed by adding overseas payment functions to the popular ShinHyup check cards. They can be used for online and offline overseas payments as well as at financial automation devices (CDs and ATMs).
They can be issued at nearby ShinHyup branches or through the proprietary mobile platform ‘On(ON)Bank’ with no separate annual fee.
To commemorate the launch of the first overseas check card, a promotion will be held. From the 15th for two months, customers who spend more than 300,000 KRW using the ShinHyup overseas check card will be entered into a draw to win prizes such as gold bars worth approximately 3.2 million KRW and department store gift certificates worth 500,000 KRW.

Song Jae-geun, head of the Credit Guarantee Business at the National Credit Union Federation of Korea, emphasized, “This card is perfect for the recently increasing number of overseas direct purchase customers as it allows them to enjoy overseas payment services and various domestic discount benefits simultaneously without the burden of an annual fee.”
