Gwangjin-gu Operates 'Lifelong Learning Program' in Collaboration with Konkuk University and Sejong University
This Year, Konkuk University and Sejong University Collaborate to Offer 8 Lifelong Learning Programs... First-Come, First-Served Enrollment of 30 Participants for 'Welfare Horticulture and Urban Agriculture' Course
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Seongap) has started operating the ‘2021 University-Linked Lifelong Learning Program’ together with Konkuk University and Sejong University from this month.
The district signs agreements with local universities every year and runs educational programs to provide residents with quality lifelong learning opportunities close to their living areas.
This year, aiming to create a ‘lifelong learning space that anyone can enjoy and learn from,’ various programs are prepared ranging from liberal arts courses such as humanities and art to practical courses like asset management and cooking.
First, in the first half of this year, an 8-week ‘Real Estate Asset Management’ course starting April 8 and a ‘Welfare Horticulture and Urban Agriculture’ course starting May 11 will be held at Konkuk University, with 30 participants for the ‘Welfare Horticulture and Urban Agriculture’ course being recruited on a first-come, first-served basis.
In the second half of the year, three courses will be held at Konkuk University: ▲Art Activities for Self-Esteem Improvement (July) ▲Adult’s Journey to the West (September) ▲Real Estate Auction and Tax Course (October).
Additionally, Sejong University will offer three courses: ▲Principles of Vegetable Fermentation and Kimchi Making (September) ▲Principles of Legume Fermentation and Jang Making (October) ▲Principles of Grain Fermentation and Alcohol Brewing (November).
In response to the COVID-19 situation, the district plans to minimize the number of courses and participants so that residents can attend classes safely, and will run online non-face-to-face classes concurrently if necessary.
Moreover, through continuous consultations with universities, the district will establish and operate various new courses reflecting residents’ demands.
Detailed program schedules and registration are available on the Gwangjin-gu Lifelong Learning Portal.
