Boseong-gun Releases 80,000 Juvenile Sweetfish
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 5th that it released about 80,000 silverfish fry into Beolgyo Chil-dongcheon, Deukryangcheon, and Boseong River on the 2nd.
The silverfish released this time are fish seeds over 5cm in length and inhabit only clean inland waters of grade 1 to 2.
Silverfish are migratory species; the hatched fry spend the winter in the sea or dams and return upstream to the river again in April to May of the following year.
A county official said, "This year as well, we plan to do our best to improve fishermen's income by continuously releasing high value-added fish seeds to create abundant fishery resources."
