32 New COVID-19 Cases in China... Highest in 2 Months
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Major foreign media reported on the 5th that China's new COVID-19 cases increased at the largest rate in over two months.
Chinese authorities announced that on the 4th, there were a total of 32 new COVID-19 cases, including 15 local infections and 17 imported cases. They also added that the number of new cases was the highest since January 31.
The Chinese authorities explained that all 15 local infections occurred in Ruili City, Yunnan Province, which borders Myanmar, and stated that the situation in Myanmar is causing the increase in COVID-19 cases. They also added that 11 of the 15 cases were confirmed to be Myanmar nationals.
Yunnan Province shares a 4,000 km border with Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam. Ruili City serves as a major gateway for illegal immigrants entering from countries such as Myanmar.
