55 Senior Welfare Facilities in Eunpyeong-gu to Receive 500,000 to 1,000,000 KRW per Facility
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) will provide disaster relief funds totaling 49.5 million KRW on the 6th to senior welfare facilities that have suffered long-term damage due to decreased facility usage from emergency care implementation, reduced income, and additional operating expenses caused by quarantine measures.
A total of 55 facilities, including 25 elderly medical welfare facilities and 30 day and short-term care facilities in Eunpyeong-gu, will receive support ranging from 500,000 to 1,000,000 KRW per facility. The funds will be used for quarantine-related expenses at facilities dedicated to caring for seniors despite the difficult circumstances caused by COVID-19.
A facility official stated, “It is fortunate that after Eunpyeong-gu recently provided masks, they are now additionally providing disaster relief funds, allowing us to strengthen quarantine efforts. We were worried about being excluded from disaster relief funds like last year due to decreased income and additional operating expenses such as quarantine costs caused by restricted facility operations from COVID-19, but we are grateful for the detailed attention given.”

Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, explained, “As the COVID-19 disaster situation prolongs, welfare facilities in the district are facing difficulties in facility operations and safety issues. Given the high-risk nature of these facilities, we decided to provide support to senior welfare facilities struggling with operations due to strong quarantine measures such as mandatory preemptive testing of workers.”
