484 COVID-19 Cases Confirmed by 9 PM... 500s Expected in Early to Mid April 4
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] On the 3rd, COVID-19 cases continued to be confirmed nationwide.
According to health authorities and the Seoul Metropolitan Government, from midnight to 9 p.m. on that day, a total of 484 new COVID-19 cases were reported nationwide.
This is 8 fewer than the 492 cases recorded at the same time the previous day.
By region, the metropolitan area accounted for 317 cases (65.5%), and non-metropolitan areas accounted for 167 cases (34.5%).
By city and province, Gyeonggi had 150 cases, Seoul 139, Busan 57, Incheon 28, Daegu and Gyeongbuk 15 each, Gyeongnam 14, Jeonbuk, Chungbuk, and Chungnam 12 each, Ulsan 10, Daejeon 9, Gangwon 6, Gwangju and Sejong 2 each, and Jeju 1.
Among the 17 cities and provinces nationwide, Jeonnam has not yet reported any confirmed cases.
Since there is still time until midnight when the tally closes, the number of new confirmed cases announced at 0:00 on the 4th is expected to increase to the mid-500s.
The 'third wave' that began in earnest in mid-November last year has been ongoing for five months.
From the 28th of last month to the previous day, the average daily number of new domestic confirmed cases was about 495.
Among these, the average daily number of locally transmitted cases, which is a key indicator for adjusting the 'social distancing' level and gauging the degree of community spread, is about 477, still within the level 2.5 range (nationwide 400?500 or more).
Major outbreak cases include new cluster infections centered around workplaces, churches, and entertainment bars.
In Jungnang-gu, Seoul, 14 confirmed cases were related to family and workplace, and in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi, 11 people tested positive in cases related to sports facilities and churches.
Additionally, 26 people were confirmed positive in cases related to gatherings of church members in Seoul, Gunsan in Jeonbuk, Daejeon, and Gumi in Gyeongbuk.
In Chungbuk Cheongju-si and Eumseong-gun, related to entertainment bars, a total of 18 people including workers, users, family, and acquaintances tested positive.
