Jindo-gun's Cleanup Campaign to Create a "Healthy Sea" Free of Marine Debris

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 2nd that Jodo-myeon recently conducted marine debris collection and cleanup activities to create a clean and healthy sea free of marine litter.
Fifteen public officials from Jodo-myeon, along with about 30 residents of Daemado Village in Daema Village, conducted environmental cleanup activities along the coastline around Daemado Village in Jodo-myeon, collecting about 20 tons of marine debris.
In particular, island residents took the lead in collecting marine debris such as abandoned fishing gear, large Styrofoam pieces, and household waste, which are considered major causes of worsening marine pollution, earning high praise.
Daemado in Jodo-myeon, Jindo-gun was selected as a "Desirable Island" by Jeollanam-do in 2018, and development projects are currently being actively promoted. Once completed, it is expected that the number of tourists visiting Daemado will greatly increase.

A Jodo-myeon official from Jindo-gun said, “We plan to continuously conduct marine debris cleanup activities to create a clean marine environment and a healthy sea environment,” adding, “We will do our best to make Jodo-myeon a place where island residents want to live and tourists want to visit.”
