Gyeonggi Office of Education to Operate 'Sewol Ferry Memorial Period' in April
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will operate a Sewol Ferry Memorial Period throughout April to mark the 7th anniversary of the Sewol Ferry disaster.
The Gyeonggi Office of Education designates April every year as a memorial period to honor the students and teachers who lost their lives in the Sewol Ferry disaster and to ensure that the lessons from the tragedy are not forgotten.
On the 7th anniversary of the accident, April 16, all affiliated institutions including the Gyeonggi Office of Education’s southern and northern offices, education support offices, and schools will set aside a meaningful time to sound sirens for one minute and participate in a moment of silence to pay tribute.
During the memorial period, the Gyeonggi Office of Education will also conduct memorial events such as wearing yellow ribbons, leaving memorial messages, and safety education, tailored to the conditions of each institution.
