[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 1st that it will recruit 560 participants for the first term of the ‘2021 Youth Dream Allowance and Activity Support Project’ to help unemployed youth enter society and support expenses necessary for job-seeking activities.
This year’s project will be conducted in two phases, the first and second half of the year, targeting a total of 1,120 people, 560 each, to expand participation opportunities for young people and provide effective counseling and education. Applications for the second half will be accepted in August.
The eligible applicants are unemployed youth aged 19 to 34 with a final academic background of graduation (including dropout, dismissal, or completion) residing in Gwangju, whose household income is within 150% of the median income and who have the willingness to seek employment. Students or those on leave of absence are excluded.
Gwangju City will support unemployed youth who are experiencing difficulties due to prolonged job preparation periods amid the economic downturn and employment decline caused by COVID-19 by providing up to 2.5 million KRW over five months, 500,000 KRW per month.
In addition, programs to strengthen job-seeking capabilities to secure competitiveness in the job market will be operated, including one-on-one consulting, job understanding programs, and programs related to job creation and entrepreneurship.
The support funds can be used not only for direct job-seeking activities such as education fees, book purchases, and exam fees but also for various expenses incurred for job-seeking activities such as meal expenses and transportation costs.
Applications can be submitted online through the official Gwangju Youth Dream website, and Gwangju City plans to make the final selection by reviewing the applicant’s household income, period of unemployment, and job-seeking activity plan.
The selection results will be announced on the Gwangju City website on the 30th, and individual text messages will be sent to the selected applicants.
Afterward, an orientation will be held, and procedures for issuing a Clean Card for the payment of the Youth Dream Allowance will be conducted.
Detailed information on the recruitment schedule and eligibility for the Dream Allowance can be found on the Gwangju City website’s announcement section starting from the 6th.
