Government Public Officials Ethics Committee Denies Employment for Former Prosecutor as Construction Company Division Head
Government Public Officials Ethics Committee March Review of Retired Officials' Employment... 2 Employment Restrictions, 4 Employment Disapprovals
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] The Government Public Officials Ethics Committee has decided to 'disapprove employment' regarding a retired public official, formerly a prosecutor, who attempted to be employed as a division head at a construction company.
The Government Public Officials Ethics Committee disclosed the results of the 'March Retired Public Officials Employment Review' on the 1st. Employment reviews were conducted on 87 cases where retired public officials requested employment screening as of the 26th of last month. The results were published on the Public Officials Ethics System website on the 1st.
Among the review requests, the Ethics Committee determined that 2 cases had a close business relationship between the department or agency to which the individual belonged during the 5 years prior to retirement and the prospective employer, resulting in an 'employment restriction.' Four cases were judged as not meeting the legal criteria for employment approval and were thus decided as 'employment disapproval.'
The cases receiving employment restriction decisions include a retired public official from Gyeongsangbuk-do who attempted to be employed as the head of a research institute related to the East Coast marine industry of Gyeongbuk, and a retired public official from the Ministry of Science and ICT who attempted to be employed as a director in a telecommunications operator's organization, totaling 2 cases.
The employment disapproval cases include 4 instances, such as a former prosecutor attempting to be employed as a division head at a certain construction company.
