Sancheong-gun's Full Effort in Wildfire Prevention... Special Measures for Cheongmyeong and Hansik Days Implemented
Intensive Deployment of Wildfire Watchers for Thorough Surveillance and Enforcement
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 1st that it will implement special measures to prevent forest fires during Cheongmyeong and Hansik (April 4-5), when the risk of forest fires is high.
The county has designated the period from March 13 to April 18 this year as the special period for preventing large-scale forest fires in spring and is currently conducting intensive forest fire prevention activities.
In particular, during this Cheongmyeong and Hansik period, all available forest fire monitoring personnel and administrative resources will be mobilized to strengthen forest fire prevention patrol activities.
Forest fire monitoring personnel will be assigned responsible areas in vulnerable locations such as cemeteries, recreational areas, hiking trails, and restricted mountain entry zones, and the emergency duty system for forest fire prevention will be strengthened and operated.
Also, considering that the number of mountain entrants will increase due to cemetery relocation and maintenance during the special period, and illegal burning such as burning of personal belongings in cemeteries will become frequent, forest fire monitoring personnel will be intensively deployed in the target areas to thoroughly monitor and crack down on such activities.
In addition, real-time information sharing and cooperation among related agencies such as fire stations, police stations, and national forest management offices will be strengthened, and continuous forest fire prevention publicity and guidance activities will be carried out through village broadcasts, vehicle broadcasts, and aerial patrols using rented helicopters.

A county official said, “Since the possibility of forest fires is high due to dry weather and frequent strong winds in spring, prior preparation is most important,” and added, “We will do our best to prevent forest fires through forest fire prevention and rapid initial response in case of forest fires. We ask local residents to actively participate in forest fire prevention, such as refraining from burning fields and ridges adjacent to forests.”
