Sancheong Hyangto Scholarship Foundation Plans Continuous Expansion of College Entrance Scholarship Support Scale
Scholarship Foundation Accepts Scholarship Applications Throughout April
Support for University Entrance Scholarships for Third or Later Children
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Sancheong-gun Hometown Scholarship Foundation announced on the 31st that it will accept applications for the first half of 2021 hometown scholarships from April 1 to 30.
Starting this year, the foundation will provide university entrance scholarships to the third or later children in multi-child families to ease the burden of tuition fees.
Additionally, the foundation improved related payment criteria by removing school (academic background) regulations from the university scholarship selection standards.
Scholarships will be awarded this year to students with excellent middle school grades among those entering high schools in the region, and to university entrants and current students who graduated from local high schools with outstanding academic performance.
Scholarships will also be provided to elementary, middle, and high school students and university students from financially disadvantaged families to boost morale and alleviate economic burdens.
Eligibility requires being a resident of Sancheong for more than one year or being a child of such a resident. Applications can be submitted through recommendations from the principal of each student's school or the head of the local town or township office.
The planned number of scholarship recipients includes 50 high school entrance scholarship students, 140 living expense scholarship students from low-income families, and 72 university living expense scholarship students, totaling 262 recipients.
Meanwhile, the Sancheong-gun Hometown Scholarship Foundation was established in 1999 and operated as a corporate organization for 20 years before transitioning to a foundation corporation in 2018.
The foundation not only provides scholarships but also promotes various scholarship projects that students can directly experience in areas such as native English teacher support, special talent and aptitude education support, and support for purchasing excellent food ingredients to improve the educational environment.
