[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Moon In) announced on the 31st that it will operate the ‘Let's Go! Science Picnic’ starting next month on the 10th as part of the ‘2021 Resident Participation Science Program’.
This science program has been conducted over the past three years as part of the industry-academia-research cooperation project with four themes: ▲Let's Go! Science Picnic ▲Visiting Science Classroom ▲Starry Night Camp with Family ▲Advanced Science Golden Bell with Family.
This year, ‘Let's Go! Science Picnic’ will be held 10 times in total. In the first half of the year, participants will visit the National Gwangju Science Museum to experience activities such as the Science Investigation Team and Light Exploration Room, and in the second half, they will tour the R&D Special Zone and industry-academia-research cooperation institutions.
Since last year, the online education program ‘Visiting Science Classroom,’ which uses YouTube and science experiment kits, will be conducted four times in April and September for 300 elementary school students.
The ‘Starry Night Camp with Family’ is a night astronomical observation camp using the National Gwangju Science Museum’s Starlight Observatory, scheduled to be held in the second half of the year for small groups such as vulnerable groups and families of science gifted students.
The ‘Advanced Science Golden Bell,’ a science quiz competition where students and parents participate in pairs, will be held twice a year this year, divided into a district-only competition and a city-district joint competition.
The Buk-gu district-only competition will be held online on May 29 at the National Gwangju Science Museum, with 50 teams of 100 elementary school students participating.
