The Vietnamese B2B cloud service that KT is launching this time targets Korean companies operating in Vietnam and local Vietnamese companies. KT expects to rapidly spread B2B cloud services in Vietnam and help improve the productivity of companies engaged in Vietnam-linked businesses.
In particular, based on its domestic cloud business achievements, KT signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with ‘FPT Smart Cloud,’ a subsidiary of FPT Group, the No. 1 information and communication technology (ICT) company in Vietnam. FPT Group provides ICT services in 48 countries worldwide and has secured more than 100 customers among the Fortune 500 companies. To expand its cloud business, FPT Group established ‘FPT Smart Cloud,’ a cloud-specialized subsidiary, in September last year.
KT plans to promote the business so that hybrid cloud services optimized for industry characteristics, such as public cloud (G-Cloud) and financial cloud (F-Cloud), can be distributed locally in Vietnam. Companies utilizing these services will be able to build a ‘digital workplace’ and flexibly adapt to rapidly changing business environments.
The two companies agreed to establish a cooperation model to ensure that KT’s accumulated cloud service operation know-how becomes the most effective digital transformation (DX) solution in Vietnam. Specifically, they will actively pursue ▲ joint sales and marketing of customized cloud products ▲ joint construction of DX infrastructure and solutions optimized for Vietnam ▲ cooperation (joint working group) to target the ASEAN market.
Additionally, KT’s strategy for entering the ASEAN market with its cloud services will also be discussed. KT plans to establish cloud data centers (CDC) in ASEAN countries, in addition to the five locations currently operating domestically and internationally, including Cheonan in Chungnam and Los Angeles in the United States.
The MOU signing involved Moon Sung-wook, Head of KT’s Global Business Division, and Le Hong Viet, CEO of FPT Smart Cloud. The two companies signed the MOU in an ontact (online contact) manner from video conference rooms prepared by each company.
