Abolition of Executive System, Strengthening Position System Based on Function
Aiming for a Horizontal Organizational Culture and Efficient Decision-Making
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] FILA Korea announced on the 31st that it will abolish the internal executive (rank) system and introduce a position system centered on job functions. This is to facilitate smoother communication among members and improve decision-making efficiency under the horizontal corporate culture orientation that began in earnest with the appointment of CEO Yoon Geun-chang in 2018. It is a decision to move toward a faster, more rational decision-making and autonomous responsibility organization centered on the heads of each headquarters, who are experts in major job functions.
First, to establish an organic and unified strategic organizational system for major departments such as product planning, design, sales, and marketing, a Chief Operating Officer (COO) position was newly created between the CEO and the heads of headquarters. The executive system and titles such as director, managing director, and senior managing director, except for executives at the COO level and above, will be abolished and operated under a leader-centered system of functional organizations.
According to the newly reorganized system, FILA Korea appointed Vice President Jung Seung-wook (photo) as COO. COO Jung Seung-wook will oversee retail sales, marketing, and the apparel division. Hong In-pyo was appointed as head of the Retail Sales Headquarters, Park Jae-sung as head of the Apparel Headquarters, and Jung Sun-gi as head of the FILA Sales Division. This personnel move emphasizes strengthening expertise and autonomous responsibility to promote stable mid- to long-term business growth.
Vice President Jung Seung-wook joined FILA Korea in 2012 as Marketing Director after working at Kolon Group and Cheil Worldwide. He concurrently served as head of the Sales Headquarters following the Marketing Headquarters and recently oversaw the Apparel Headquarters as well. He was promoted to Managing Director in 2015, Senior Managing Director in 2018, and this year to Chief Operating Officer Vice President.
A FILA Korea official said, "In line with the aim of fostering a horizontal organizational culture, we plan to abolish the executive rank system and shift to a position-based organization. As a healthy organizational culture based on flexible communication and rational decision-making becomes stronger, employees are showing meaningful results in terms of motivation and job satisfaction."

Meanwhile, FILA Korea plans not to uniformly apply the abolition of the rank system to employees but to measure performance through a pilot operation period of one year following the abolition of the executive rank system and fully reflect employees' opinions before expanding the system company-wide from next year.
