The Ulsan District Court Criminal Division 3 (Presiding Judge Kim Yonghee) announced on the 30th that A (62), who was tried on charges of fraud, was sentenced to 1 year and 2 months in prison.
In October 2018, while working at a partner company of a large corporation, A approached B, whom he had met, and deceived him by saying, "I know the president of another partner company well, and since they are hiring new employees, I will get your son employed," and extorted 30 million won.
When the promise was not fulfilled and B demanded the return of the money, A said, "The money has been delivered to an executive of the large corporation, the primary contractor, and your son will soon be employed there, so send more money," and received an additional 30 million won.
In September 2019, A also extorted 40 million won from C, B's nephew, using the same method.
However, it was found that A did not know the president of the partner company and had no ability to get anyone employed at the large corporation, the primary contractor.

The court stated the sentencing reason, "A, who has a prior record of punishment for fraud, did not know the president of the partner company and had no ability to get anyone employed. He exploited the desperate desire for employment, which makes the nature of the crime particularly bad."
