Yongsan-gu Resumes Interlibrary Loan Service for 7 Small Libraries
Operation from April 1... Service application available on Yongsan District Library integrated homepage... Borrowing limit 5 books... Loan period 14 days with one extension (7 days) possible
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seong Jang-hyun) will resume the interlibrary loan service for public small libraries starting April 1.
The interlibrary loan service allows residents to request and receive books held by district public libraries (Yongsan Dream Tree Library, Cheongpa Public Library) when the desired book is not available at a nearby small library. It is a type of book-sharing service.
The district had suspended library operation services since February last year due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). However, as the restrictions on library operations prolonged, the district decided to resume the interlibrary loan service for some small libraries to alleviate residents' inconvenience.
From April, the service will be available at seven locations: ▲ Cheongpa and Yongam Children's English Libraries ▲ Byeolbat Small Library (Hannam-dong) ▲ Huam-dong Small Library ▲ Wonhyo-ro 2-ga Small Library ▲ Yongmun-dong Orange Tree Small Library ▲ Itaewon 2-ga Hoenamu Small Library.
Residents wishing to apply for the service must become regular members of the Yongsan-gu public libraries and select the book and the receiving library on the integrated website. The maximum number of books that can be borrowed is five.
The loan period is 14 days, with one extension possible for 7 days.
The district operates an interlibrary loan vehicle, delivering books to the receiving library within 3 to 7 days after the service request, and sends a notification text message to the applicant when the book arrives. The interlibrary loan book provision is only conducted by Yongsan Dream Tree Library and Cheongpa Public Library.
Considering the social distancing levels, the district plans to continuously expand the participating libraries in the interlibrary loan service. For more details, please check the Yongsan-gu public libraries integrated website.
