Congressional Aide Accused of Assaulting Acquaintance at Bar
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] A National Assembly member's aide has been accused of assaulting an acquaintance at a bar.
According to the police on the 30th, Mr. A filed a complaint on the 26th, claiming that he was assaulted by his acquaintance Mr. B while drinking together at a bar in Cheongwon-gu, Cheongju City, in the early morning.
Mr. A is reported to have sustained injuries to his hands, neck, and face. Mr. B is an aide to Assemblyman Byeon Jae-il of the Democratic Party, whose constituency is Cheongwon, Cheongju.
Assemblyman Byeon's aide expressed responsibility for causing the controversy, stating that he was intoxicated and does not clearly remember the incident, and has tendered his resignation.
