[Featured Stock] Alois Approaching Disney Plus Launch... Anticipation for Android OTT Box
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Alois, an online video service (OTT) set-top box company, is showing strong performance. The news that 'Disney Plus,' a giant in the OTT market with vast content, is about to launch domestically appears to have influenced the stock price.
At 10:42 AM on the 29th, Alois was trading at 5,130 KRW, up 13.5% from the previous trading day.
The day before, a media outlet reported that Disney Plus is expected to start domestic service in the second half of this year. Recently, Luke Kang, General Manager of Walt Disney Company Asia-Pacific, said in an interview with Korean media, "It is difficult to specify the exact timing, but it will be released this year." A senior official from a telecommunications company also commented, "Not clearly stating the release date seems to be a strategy to raise expectations," and predicted, "It will be introduced by the second half of the year at the latest."
Alois's Android OTT BOX receives compressed digital broadcast signals transmitted via terrestrial, satellite, cable, and internet networks through a tuner or IP (Internet Protocol). After separating the content contained in the signal, it decodes the desired content for viewers through the highly scalable and open Android OS and outputs the video to display devices such as TVs, serving as a multimedia device.
