Police Officers Who Sent Only Juniors on Duty and Falsely Claimed Allowances Receive Suspended Sentences
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Police officers who falsely recorded working hours while sending only juniors to the field and received allowances were given suspended prison sentences.
According to the legal community on the 27th, Judge Park Chang-hee of the Seoul Eastern District Court Criminal Division 12 postponed the sentencing of police officers A and B, who were tried in January on charges of fraud, forgery of electronic records, and use of forged electronic records, to six months and four months in prison, respectively.
A suspended sentence is a system that delays the pronouncement of a sentence for a certain period. If the defendant remains without incident during the two-year suspension period, the sentence is waived.
It was investigated that since 2018, A, who worked as the administrative platoon leader of the Mobile Unit under the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, falsely recorded working hours as if he had gone out together when juniors responded to reports in the jurisdiction, receiving about 177,000 won in allowances over 10 occasions. In addition, A falsely recorded the working hours and reasons of B, who worked with him as the administrative platoon leader, and B received overtime allowances seven times totaling 182,000 won through this.
It is known that they were also disciplined by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
