Yeonggwang-gun Holds Rally to Condemn Myanmar Military Coup
[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seong-jeong] Jeollanam-do Yeonggwang-gun (Governor Kim Jun-seong) announced on the 26th that it held a resolution rally condemning the 'Myanmar Military Coup'.
The resolution rally was organized by the Gun Health Family and Multicultural Family Support Center, with about 30 participants including Governor Kim Jun-seong, county council members, and marriage immigrant women.
The event proceeded with the reading of a resolution condemning the Myanmar military coup that declared a state of emergency last month and seized power, urging the restoration of democratic order, followed by participants chanting slogans and performing a picket demonstration.
The resolution included demands for the immediate cessation of bloodshed occurring throughout Myanmar, the prompt release of detainees, and the government's active response to restore Myanmar's democratic order.
Participants urged the residents to take an interest in the Myanmar situation and to send much attention and support for Myanmar's democracy.
Governor Kim Jun-seong said, "Having experienced the same pain as in May 1980, we understand better than anyone the pain of the Myanmar people suffering under the current military coup and the crisis facing democratization," adding, "We send warm solidarity and support to the resistance of the Myanmar people for the restoration of democratic order."
