CJ Logistics Reduces 230 Tons of Plastic Annually Through 'Eco-Friendly Packaging'
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] CJ Logistics announced on the 26th that it has reduced approximately 230 tons of plastic over the past year through the 'Eco-friendly Smart Packaging Solution' developed in collaboration with its client Atomy.
Atomy is a global network marketing company conducting direct sales operations in 18 regions worldwide, focusing on cosmetics, health supplements, and more.
CJ Logistics manages the entire logistics process for Atomy products, including inbound and outbound management, inventory control, packaging, and transportation, at its logistics center located in Baegam-myeon, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do.
In March last year, the two companies introduced the 'Eco-friendly Smart Packaging Solution,' which reduces the use of plastic film in packaging operations and prevents excessive packaging by replacing cushioning materials and box tape with recyclable paper materials and modernizing the packaging process.
Through this collaboration, all plastic cushioning materials inside boxes used to protect products from external shocks were replaced with paper cushioning materials. From cushioning materials filling empty spaces to individual packaging materials protecting single items, all were changed to paper materials that are 100% recyclable.
The amount of plastic film waste reduced through eco-friendly packaging over one year is estimated at approximately 230 tons, and if the cushioning materials and tape were lined up, they would stretch about 19,000 km.
