Seongbuk-gu Seokgwan-dong Community Center Communicates with Residents through Various Non-Face-to-Face Ideas
Communicating with Residents Without Space Constraints at Seokgwan TV - Exchanging Diverse Opinions... Another Non-Face-to-Face Idea from Seokgwan-dong Community Center: Online Resident Communication Room (Group Chat)
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] In the prolonged COVID-19 situation where face-to-face meetings are difficult, the non-face-to-face ideas of the Seokgwan-dong Community Service Center in Seongbuk-gu are shining.
In Seokgwan-dong, Seokgwan TV has been launched to conduct major resident group meetings such as the Residents' Autonomy Committee online. Starting with the Tongjang meeting on the 12th, the Seokgwan-dong Community Leaders Council meeting was held on the 18th, and the regular Residents' Autonomy Committee meeting was held on the 22nd through Seokgwan TV.
Residents who were unfamiliar with the method of real-time broadcasting on YouTube and communicating through the comment chat window have accumulated experience, and now they freely express their desire to communicate without spatial restrictions and gather opinions. Furthermore, they are providing various opinions, according to officials at the Seokgwan-dong Community Service Center.
Kim Deok-hyun, chairman of the Seokgwan-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee, said, "Because it has been difficult to meet due to COVID-19, there were many cases where important neighborhood agendas could not be properly discussed or had to be decided without discussion, but through Seokgwan TV, we can gather and talk without worrying about infection, which is good."
There is another non-face-to-face idea from the Seokgwan-dong Community Service Center: the online resident communication rooms (group chat rooms). They operate about 20 online resident communication rooms (group chat rooms) such as the Residents' Autonomy Committee and the Tongjang Council, quickly delivering neighborhood and district news online.
Through these communication rooms, they found relatives of a lost dementia patient and a traffic accident victim, and in July last year, they found a missing child within 15 minutes and safely returned the child to their parents.

Lee Dae-hyun, head of Seokgwan-dong, stated, "In the post-COVID era, community service centers should pay more attention to creating and providing various non-face-to-face content that allows closer communication between administration and residents, and all staff are making various attempts with the determination that they are creators."
