Imsil-gun Launches Full-Scale Operation of Rural Workforce Support Situation Room
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] On the 24th, Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk announced that it will operate a Rural Workforce Support Situation Room to provide workforce support for farms struggling due to the decrease and aging of the rural population as the full-scale farming season begins.
The Rural Workforce Situation Room is composed of the Agriculture and Livestock Division, Rural Vitality Division, Economic Transportation Division, Resident Welfare Division, and Agricultural Technology Center, serving as a control tower overseeing the entire rural workforce support project.
It will be operated with a system that quickly connects the necessary workforce along with a survey of agricultural labor demand within the region.
In addition, the Agricultural Workforce Brokerage Center, operated as part of the rural workforce support project, provides tailored agricultural labor brokerage and mediation services to farms in need of labor.
The Rural Workforce Center is securing workforce supply by providing subsidies of 80 million KRW each through Osu Gwanchon Nonghyup and Imsil Nonghyup.
In fact, the brokerage center mediated about 1,400 workforce cases during last year’s busy farming season.
It received great responses by solving labor shortages on farms through professional and stable labor supply.
This year, to secure workforce efficiently, transportation costs for agricultural workers will be supported from 5,000 KRW to 10,000 KRW.
Additionally, accommodation costs of 20,000 KRW and on-site practical training costs up to 20,000 KRW per day for a maximum of three days will be supported, along with agricultural work safety education.
To secure sufficient farming workers, it plans to contribute to job creation by attracting idle urban manpower through job postings via the urban-rural workforce brokerage service.
In particular, for crops requiring a lot of labor such as peaches and tomatoes, separate farming work teams will be formed, and expertise will be enhanced through education for agricultural workers to increase farm satisfaction.
The county Agricultural Technology Center will also expand agricultural machinery rental and operation services to carry out plowing, transplanting, and harvesting of rice and forage crops for vulnerable groups such as elderly farmers over 70, women farmers, and returnees to farming.
Each town and township plans to support timely workforce supply during the busy farming season through continuous recruitment by participating institutions and organizations for rural labor assistance.

County Governor Shim Min said, “As labor shortages during the busy farming season are a concern due to COVID-19, we will devise various support measures through the operation of the Rural Workforce Support Situation Room. We will make greater efforts to create a rural environment where farms struggling with labor shortages can focus on farming with peace of mind.”
