According to the '2021 Public Officials' Regular Asset Changes' disclosed on the 25th through the government gazette by the Public Service Ethics Committee, Police Commissioner Kim Chang-ryong reported assets worth about 574 million KRW, including an apartment in Amsa-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, and deposits under his and his spouse's names.
Compared to last year, this increased by about 133 million KRW, due to the return of a jeonse deposit following contract termination and additional deposits.
The average assets of 31 senior police officials at the rank of Chief Superintendent or higher were approximately 1.29 billion KRW. The wealthiest individual within the police is No Seung-il, Director of the Security Investigation Bureau at the National Police Agency. He reported about 2.88 billion KRW in assets, including an office in Seocho-dong, Seoul owned solely by him, an apartment in Sujeong-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province jointly owned by him and his spouse, as well as deposits and securities.
