View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] Samsung Electronics is launching a drone delivery service in Ireland, the first among its global branches. The service covers the latest smartphone series including the Galaxy S21, wireless earphones, tablet PCs, and smartwatches.
On the 24th, Samsung Electronics announced through its newsroom, "We have partnered with Mana Drone Delivery to start delivering the latest Galaxy devices by drone to customers who order from Samsung Electronics Ireland's online website."
Samsung Ireland plans to provide customers with an end-to-end contactless shopping experience from online ordering to order processing. The service will debut in the Oranmore area of Ireland and will soon expand to cover the entire country.
Mana Drone Delivery, the partner company, uses custom-made aerospace-grade drones. The drones fly at an altitude of 50 to 80 meters at speeds exceeding 60 kph (60 km per hour). The goal is to deliver products from the distribution center to customers' doorsteps within 3 minutes in the Oranmore area.
Eamon Grant, Head of Samsung Ireland Online, said, "Samsung is always looking for ways to bring meaningful innovation to customers," adding, "We are very pleased to be the first company to enable product drone delivery in Ireland."
