Muan-gun Conducts Comprehensive Crackdown on Fraudulent Distribution of Muan Sarang Gift Certificates
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) announced on the 23rd that it will conduct a comprehensive crackdown on illegal distribution of the Muan Love Gift Certificate until the 31st to establish a sound distribution order.
Since last year, the county has been offering a 10% special discount on gift certificates to revitalize the local economy, which has been stagnant due to COVID-19. This year, it has newly launched mobile (QR) and card gift certificates to inject vitality into the local economy.
However, as the issuance of gift certificates has expanded, concerns about illegal distribution have been raised. Accordingly, the county plans to conduct on-site inspections of suspicious merchants through pre-analysis of user and merchant exchange records via the integrated gift certificate management system to verify illegal distribution.
The crackdown targets restricted merchant registration sectors such as gambling industries, large marts, and lottery sales businesses; acts of receiving gift certificates without selling goods or providing services; merchants continuously purchasing and exchanging gift certificates under another person's name; and acts of individual merchants acting as agents to exchange gift certificates received illegally.
If clear illegal distribution activities disrupting the distribution order of gift certificates are found as a result of the comprehensive crackdown, the county plans to impose administrative measures such as cancellation or suspension of merchant registration, and financial penalties such as fines or recovery in accordance with the "Act on the Promotion of Use of Local Love Gift Certificates."
